I arrived at the Felixstowe War Memorial at 10:00hrs on the day of the fun run the 6th May; I was there with around ten other cadets. My aim for the day was 5 laps with a full Bergen of things you would need on a camp.
As the run started we marched past the starting line in a squad lead by Cpl Prince. We then broke out into our running speed and shot off into a flurry of people, I completed the first lap and felt quite refreshed and thought a lap my Bergen would be fine, it wasn’t I was absolutely shattered after that.
After my second lap I took the Bergen off and completed the third but at about 4 minutes slower than the first, the forth lap was the same. On the fifth lap I decided to put the Bergen back on and go for another one. I completed that lap with 4 minutes to go but decided to stick with 5 laps which was, after all, my target.
Overall it was a great day and I hope to do better next year!
