The Air Cadet Athletics for the United Kingdom was held at RAF Cosford, near Telford on the 30th June 2012. Corporal Sophie Leigh-Pearson and I, Sergeant Jack Moore, travelled the four hour coach journey from Felixstowe on the 29th June.
The Competition started at 0800hrs on the Saturday. We were representing “356 (Felixstowe) Squadron” and the “Central & Eastern Region”, quite an honour.
My event, the Discus, didn’t start until 1430hrs so I had time to watch and cheer our teams. Then it was my turn with the Discus. After a bit of a battle I came 5th overall. Not bad for 5th in the whole of the Air Cadets!
Cpl Leigh-Pearson was competing in the 4x100m relay later in the afternoon. A strong competition and after a tough battle her team won the event, winning the ‘Gold’.
Winning ‘Gold’ is a massive achievement for both her and the Squadron. 1st place in the Air Cadets. The whole day was a great success with Central and East Region coming 2nd Overall.
