Grob Tutor T1

When we went flying, we flew in the Grob tutor. From our Squadron (356) there was Sgt Adams, Cdt Swain, Cdt Carrie and Me, Cdt Butcher. When we met at our Sqn I was really nervous and worried about flying. We had to pick up Woodbridge Squadron Cadets up at Tesco but then we were off! It was a really long journey but well worth it by the end of the day.

When we arrived at RAF Wyton we sat down and had a health and safety brief which was really fun! We had to pretend we had to parachute out! After this we were ready to go! We were really lucky to fly as the people who fly in the morning unfortunately due to the weather, didn’t all get a flight and those that did get a flight didn’t get very long in the air. So when the officer had briefed us this information we weren’t particularly hopeful about flying!

The Officer came back about 10 minutes later and said that it was clearing and that we might get a few people up! One by one we went flying, until everyone in fact got up in the air, which was really good! After the brief we got taken into a room and were given flying suits, gloves and a helmet with a microphone to put on.

I then walked out to the apron where the aircraft were, and I climbed in. I said hello to the pilot and we were off. The pilot was really nice and asked me what I wanted to do. We did some turns and I realised that it wasn’t that bad. I really enjoyed it and would love to do it again.
